DEFIANCE, Mo.—The best way to reinforce a new skill is with practice by doing.  That goes especially for shotgun shooting.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will enable those who attend the May 25virtual Introduction to Shotgun class to take their new skills to the next level.   The staff at MDC’s August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center will host a Live Fire Shotgun Shooting Session Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m.– 2:00 p.m.  The session is free and open to ages 11 and up.  Participants must have already taken the class on May 25 to attend the live fire session.

This program is an opportunity to come to the range and shoot a shotgun with an instructor. MDC will provide a shotgun for those who need it, but participants may bring your own as well. Shooting range staff will provide all ammunition required, along with ear and eye protection.  This is an open session and those who register can come anytime during the four-hour period.

The Live Fire Shotgun Shooting Session is a free program, but advanced online registration is required at https://short.mdc.mo.gov/Zrq.  As this is an in-person event, MDC asks all participants to observe current local social distancing and masking guidelines.  Bringing and wearing face coverings is encouraged when appropriate.

The August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center is located at 3550 Route D in Defiance, approximately five miles west of Highway 94.

MDC offers many free educational events and programs in the St. Louis region to help people discover nature, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.  Stay informed by going to the MDC St. Louis regional events page at https://short.mdc.mo.gov/ZP6.
