MDC offers free Conservation Youth Camp May 22 near St. Joseph

St. Joseph, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free day camp for youths ages 11-15 on May 22 at Camp Geiger near St. Joseph. The camp will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to both girls and boys. Campers will learn outdoor skills.

A goal of the Conservation Youth Camp is to teach outdoor skills so youths can confidently explore and enjoy Missouri’s natural places. MDC staff and volunteers will teach the skills and campers will have a chance to try them out in a fun-filled day. They will learn about fishing, archery, and firearm shooting and safety. Campers will also become hunter-education certified.

Space is limited. For more information or to receive an application to attend, call MDC’s Northwest Regional Office at 816-271-3100. Applications will be accepted in the order they are received. Campers are encouraged to apply by May 20. COVID-19 safety protocols will be encouraged.
